1. Confirm the exact exam name

The State Certificate Examination in Polish as a Foreign Language and telc exams are separate systems. Their paper structure, timing, assessment and speaking tasks may differ. Both require a solid base in listening, reading, language accuracy, writing and speaking. Match the name on your registration with the organiser’s current guide and sample paper.

Telc offers, among others, Język polski B1·B2 Szkoła. The state exam is selected by level and candidate group. This trainer develops shared skills but does not replace the official paper for your exam.

ImportantFormats and rules can change. Always consult the current guide, sample paper and organiser notices.

2. Run a diagnostic test

Complete several tasks from each section without a dictionary and without pausing the clock. Record where you lose points and why.

This creates a priority list. Strong reading and weak speaking should not receive equal study time.

3. Study in short blocks

A useful 30–45 minute block has one aim: ten minutes reviewing phrases, twenty minutes on an exam task and ten minutes analysing errors. Test volume alone does not create progress.

Sample weekMonday — reading and vocabulary; Tuesday — listening; Wednesday — language elements; Thursday — e-mail; Friday — speaking; Saturday — mixed test; Sunday — error review.

4. Use a stable writing process

Mark every instruction point, prepare one sentence or argument for each, then draft the text. Reserve time for verbs, cases, spelling and the closing.

Keep these Polish connectors for practice: po pierwsze, dlatego, jednak, moim zdaniem, na zakończenie. A clear logical text is better than forced, overly difficult vocabulary.

5. Speak aloud from week one

Record short answers and check whether each has an opening, development and conclusion. Practise agreeing, proposing, refusing and asking follow-up questions.

6. Use the final week for rehearsals

Complete at least two full timed sets. After the first, improve your strategy; after the second, check that your pace is stable. The day before, prepare documents and travel rather than studying all night.

Common preparation mistakes

  1. Grammar only, without communication practice.
  2. Completing tasks without recording the cause of errors.
  3. Leaving speaking and writing until the final week.
  4. Practising without a time limit.
  5. Memorising texts that do not answer the prompt.

Check your level in practice
